SLDN Petitions for Peaceful Elections in Sierra Leone:
May - August 2007

The response for the Petition came from far and near. Sierra Leoneans throughout the Diaspora shared our concerns on the need for peaceful and fair elections in our home nation.

The Petition was presented to the UK representatives of the three main political party in the hope that they will then present it to their party leaders.

The response and feedback on the Elections was very encouraging as all parties and their supporters strived to achieve a successful and peaceful vote-casting.

Postscript

The call for peace was shared by many and Sierra Leone voted in as its new leader, His Excellency Ernest Bai Koroma.

SLDN published an open letter of congratulations to the President, the Vice-President Samuel S. Samsumana, the head of the National Electoral Commission, Christiana Thorpe and her staff, and the People of Sierra Leone for the part they played in facilitating this democratic process.
