To become the strategic conduit of socio-economic information between the diverse stakeholders in Sierra Leone and in the Diaspora, with the focus of rebuilding our nation
SLDN was borne out of the Sierra Leone Investment Forum, held in London on 4th June 2005 . The conference was an initiative of Sierra Leoneans living in the UK. Working with international partners, it brought together non-governmental organisations and representatives from various GoSL ministries, as they sought to find sustainable solutions to development in Sierra Leone .

SLDN was officially launched on the 28th April 2006 and is registered as a Community Interest Community and managed by a Board of Directors.
